It’s a fantastically fun action game that’s part Fatal Fury, part Magician Lord, and part Metal Slug. Playing as either Roddy or Cathy, you’ll travel to a number of different planets in an effort to take down a gang of evil space pirates. Each level is chock full of baddies, obstacles, and traps, but luckily for you, Roddy and Cathy have lots of moves at their disposal. You can pick up power-ups, extend your fists, and perform special moves like sliding kicks and fire bursts. You can also jump between the foreground and background to dodge enemies since the levels run on two lines. The graphics, much like other Neo Geo titles, consist of colorful back drops and cartoon-quality characters that are pleasing to the eye. The music is bouncy and upbeat while the blasts, smacks, and thuds create a cacophony of sounds that’s just as chaotic as the action. As an added bonus, a second-player can join in to assist you in battle. Top Hunter is a terrific game. In fact, it’s one that every Neo Geo gamer should own.
