If you liked Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance and Dungeon Siege
III, then you’ll want to pick up Dungeon Hunter: Alliance for the
PlayStation Vita. Like the aforementioned titles, it’s a hack-and-slash RPG
that’s heavy on the combat. Playing as a mage, rogue, or warrior,
you’ll fight a number of beasts and demons as you traverse dark forests, fiery lava
caves, and snow-covered peaks. Along the way, you’ll find plenty of gold,
weapons, and armor. And, thanks to the Vita’s touch screen, managing all of
your loot is a breeze.
If you’re a graphics snob, don’t worry. Dungeon Hunter: Alliance
looks great on the Vita. The backgrounds are nicely detailed, the characters
move around smoothly; and the magic spell effects look fantastic. Dungeon
Hunter: Alliance sounds good, too. Your
characters grunt and yell as they swing their weapons; successful blows are
accompanied by satisfying slashes, smacks, and thuds; and the fire and
lightning spells crackle quite loudly.
If you ever tire of playing alone, you’ll be able to recruit
your friends for some local or online play. There’s also an unlockable “Pit of
Trials” mode that features wave after of wave of increasingly-difficult
enemies. How long will you last?
Slay stone devils and terrible trolls during your study
