Released back in 2005, FlatOut is a not-so-serious arcade
racer that features loads of carnage and fun. While the game features your
standard career, quick race, and time trial modes, it sets itself apart with
its sharp looking graphics, rocking soundtrack, and ridiculous ragdoll physics. The
latter is FlatOut’s bread and butter and it makes for some spectacular crashes.
It’s a sight to behold when your poor little driver goes flying through your
car’s windshield and straight into a concrete barrier.
The whole ragdoll thing seems like an afterthought, but it
really sets the tone for FlatOut. After all, the game oozes with the look
and feel of an old school demolition derby. And if you’re not smashing
someone off the track, you’re not winning.
