If you’re looking for a first-person shooter with an edge,
then you’ll want to get
Far Cry 2 for the PC.
Utilizing the powerful Dunia Engine, Far Cry 2 will have you lurking through realistic-looking
jungles,
dank
swamps, and grassy plains, setting up
sniper
shots and melee kills. While the enemy forces have the numbers, you’ll have
a number of weapons at your disposal, including a flamethrower; a machete; a
rifle; and a SMG. As you complete missions, you’ll upgrade your ammo stashes
and safe houses, which will come in handy against the relentless enemy armies.
Since you’re out in the jungle, you’ll need to fix yourself
up from time to time, removing bullets and glass shards from your arms and
legs. You’ll also be able to patch up your allies or shoot them and put them
out of their misery. Make no mistake. Far Cry 2 isn’t for the kiddies.
Far Cry 2 looks terrific on high-end graphics cards. Every
single bush, fern, and rock looks great and the special effects are fantastic.
Enemies and objects cast shadows, glare shows up in the scopes, and
barrels
and vehicles explode with a satisfying aplomb. The game sounds great, too.
The gunshots are satisfyingly loud, as are the enemies’ screams.
As you can see, Far Cry 2 is a great, open-world shooter
that provides tons of options and lots of atmosphere. It looks good and it’s
very entertaining. The single-player campaign will provide you with 25-30 hours
of fun and the
vibrant community of
players will provide you with plenty of challenges when you jump into
online play.
