Flex Your Brain with Military Madness for the TurboGrafx-16
Most gamers associate the TurboGrafx-16 with Bonk the
Caveman and excellent shooters like Blazing Lazers and R-Type. But NEC’s
not-so-successful console was also home to an excellent turn-based strategy game
called Military
Madness. It plays a bit like chess, but instead of maneuvering bishops and
rooks against the class nerd, you’re directing Hadrian tanks and Eagle bombers against
an uncaring, unfeeling CPU opponent. Think WarGames, but much cooler.
The goal in Military Madness is simple: defeat the Axis army
by destroying all of the enemy units on the map or capturing the Axis base. Of
course, this is easier said than done. You start with a limited number of units
and you’ll have to manage them properly for a shot at victory.
The maps in Military Madness are made up of hexes that
represent bases; dirt; hills; paved roads; mountains; and valleys. And you’ll
quickly learn that terrain plays a key part in the game. Some of your ground
units, like the Panther, can’t cross mountains while aerial units like the
Falcon can be placed almost anywhere. And, of course, each individual unit has
its own strengths and weaknesses. For example: your Charlies (ground troops),
are terribly weak; enemy tanks and jetfighters will destroy them in a near
instant. But they’re only one of three units that can enter a base; that’s key
because capturing an unoccupied base can earn you more units and, of course,
capturing the Axis base results in victory.
Military Madness doesn’t look like much on the surface.
After all, the game is made up of drab menus and dingy maps. But the gameplay
is both addictive and challenging. After the first few levels, the difficulty
really ramps up. If you don’t plan out your moves and use your units wisely,
you will not win. If you like brainteasers, you’ll enjoy this game. Even if
you’re not a fan of turn-based strategy titles, you should at least give
Military Madness a try. After all, a
used copy only costs about $25.
What are you waiting for? Click on one of the links below
and buy a copy of Military Madness for the TurboGrafx-16 today.

Enjoy Lots of Action, Laughs with Saints Row The Third for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360
Saints Row The
Third isn’t your typical open-world shooter. While you can shoot down
helicopters and hijack cars like in Grand Theft Auto IV,
Saints Row The Third takes itself a little less seriously. But that doesn’t
make it any less fun. In fact, the outlandish characters, ridiculous storylines,
and large array of weapons
and vehicles make Saints Row The Third a blast to play. During the
single-player campaign, you’ll earn respect points for murdering mascots and
vehicle surfing. In turn, you’ll use those respect points to upgrade your
health, unlock new weapons, and recruit more homies. These challenges, coupled
with the game’s non-stop action and hilarious scenarios, makes Saints Row The
Third an incredibly fun diversion from the ever-popular Call of Duty games. As
an added bonus, Saints Row The Third features a load of downloadable content
and a terrific horde mode, er, Whored Mode that pits you
against masses of bums, hoes, and zombies. And Whored Mode is even more fun when
you play with a friend.
Saints Row The Third doesn’t have the sharpest graphics or
the most novel gameplay, but it offers lots of laughs and hours of fun. Best of
all, you can get a used copy for around $15. Pick up your copy for the PC, PS3,
or Xbox 360 right now.

Pick Up Shoot ‘Em Up Raiden III for Cheap
Raiden
III is an old school, bare bones shoot ‘em up. It doesn’t
have fancy graphics or any crazy gimmicks. But it’s a solid, pick-up-and-play
shooter that can be played solo or with a friend. Best of all, it can be had
for cheap. Right now, it’s
on sale for just $5.99 on the PlayStation Store and used copies for the PS2
go for around $7.
If you’re a fan of old school shmups, then you should definitely
give Raiden III a try. While it isn’t in the same league as Gradius V or R-Type Final, it’s quite
challenging and it features some terrific techno music to
boot.
Enjoy some arcade shooting action. Purchase a used copy of
Raiden III for the PS2 or pick up a PlayStation Network card and purchase the
downloadable version from the PSN store before the sale ends.

Daytona USA for Sega Saturn: A Must Own Racing Game
If you own a Sega Saturn console, but don’t have a copy of Daytona USA, you really
should pick it up - even if racers aren’t your cup of tea. Like its
predecessor, OutRun, Daytona USA
delivers bright graphics, challenging gameplay, and an unforgettable soundtrack
that features the incredibly catchy tunes “Let’s Go Away” and “Sky High.”
While Daytona USA
suffers from some terrible pop-up, it doesn’t deter a bit from the gameplay. The
game feels fast and provides an excellent challenge. If you want to hit the
checkpoints and complete the race, you’ll need to avoid traffic, draft behind vehicles,
and hold the proper racing lines to reduce your lap times and move up the pack.
Finishing first in Daytona is nowhere near a given, even if you have a great
race.
Daytona
USA was offered for free back in the day, which means that copies are
numerous – and cheap. If you’re looking for a rock solid Sega Saturn racer,
then purchase yourself a used Daytona USA
game from eBay today. You won’t regret it.
